FAQ's

Lakás PT & Performance is redefining what modern healthcare can look like and takes on a proactive approach. Our mission is to give you a superior sports physical therapy experience to maximize your potential and help you go through life pain-free. Our individualized, 1-on-1 treatment approach ensures that you are working through your goals - whether it is to improve mobility, gain strength, or recover to become a more durable athlete.

We start every rehab journey with an in-depth discovery call. This free service allows us to make sure we're the right fit for your needs and give you a chance to answer any questions you may have about our process. We will go over your injury, other pertinent medical history, and steps to take before booking your initial evaluation.

We can't wait to hear from you!

What is the difference between traditional physical therapy and sports physical therapy?

Sports physical therapy addresses other concerns that may be left out of a traditional model. While a traditional PT office may address pain, mobility, and functional strength, sports physical therapists can address return to sport testing, sports-specific rehabilitation, and address lingering concerns from pain to performance.  We also work hand in hand with your coach, surgeon, and other shareholders to make sure you are ready to return to sport.

Do I have to be injured or an athlete to see you?

Absolutely not! We believe that if you have a body, you are an athlete. Whether you are a recreational athlete, weekend warrior, or just enjoy taking fitness classes or an occasional hike - as long as you're a motivated, active individual - let's chat!

You also don't have to be injured to see us! If you're plateauing on your fitness goals, want to address any mobility and strength deficits, or want to be proactive with your health with a comprehensive diagnostic testing process, we'd love to hear from you!

What should I expect on my first visit?

After our discovery call, we will send you our Patient Intake Forms and directions to our facility. The initial evaluation will be 60-75 minutes where we will discuss your injury, current activity level, and future goals. From there, your performance PT will go through a full body evaluation which will include range of motion testing, strength, functional movement patterns, and force/power testing if applicable.  This will help us initiate your plan of care moving forward.

Will my insurance cover the cost of sessions?

Lakás PT & Performance is an Out of Network Provider. This means that your rehab journey is individualized by goals YOU set out, and not predicated on insurance companies' guidelines.

You may be reimbursed a certain % of your PT services if you have a PPO. We recommend calling your insurance company to verify your Out-of-Network Benefits and can provide you a script to help you navigate this.

We do offer payment plans on services and also take HSA and/or FSA.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to start PT?

Nope! Because California is a direct access state, you can see a physical therapist without requiring a referral on file.

If the treatment last longer than 45 days or 12 visits, a dated signature on the plan of care from your MD will be required. We can fax your plan of care to your doctor.

What is your cancellation policy?

You must notify us 24 hour in advance or you will be charged our cancellation policy.  This exists to respect multiple requests for specific time slots.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring any referrals/prescriptions given to you by your doctor.
